New! Holiday Writing Workshop
December 6, 2008-January 3, 2009 (4 sessions, no class on 12/27)
The Dynamic Stories Method is a proven method for emerging writers looking for a safe, creative environment to explore and complete fiction, non-fiction, and film projects. Beginning writers will learn the fundamentals of structure while developing projects from conception through completion. More advanced writers will find a place where their work will gain depth, focus, and specificity. The class uses stream-of-consciousness writing exercises and in-depth analysis to help you structure and complete your story.
The workshop is held Saturdays, 10-1 pm near Miracle Mile in Los Angeles.
The cost is $275 for 4 sessions.
Space is strictly limited.
Please check out the flier below for more information.
Private Writing Classes and Coaching
For those unable to attend a workshop, I'm available for a limited number of private coaching sessions. I've worked one-on-one with many novelists, screenwriters, and memoirists, helping them to develop and strengthen their work and tell the story they have inside them. I’ve also worked with TV and comedy writers, bloggers, and comedians, helping them to refine their point of view and shape a distinctive voice that brings their work to life in a new way.
Long Distance Classes
I do coach and consult writers outside of the Los Angeles area. Working by phone and e-mail, we structure an individual plan to guide you in imagining, structuring, and writing your story. Contact me for details.

Dynamic Stories
Holiday Writing Workshop
a creative workshop for writers of all genres
"Allen Zadoff’s workshop helped my writing in ways that no other class has. It has given me a method of exploring story structure and character that I plan on using for the rest of my life. The work we did in class revealed things about my characters that became integral to the story--things that I never could have accessed on my own."
- Rebecca Cutter, USC Film School grad,writer/director of
"Eating", which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
For years I wrestled with my stories, trying method after method to solve the riddle of the three-act structure. I thought I had to "figure out" the plot and be brilliant at the same time. But there is a better way!
The Dynamic Stories approach is a fun, creative process that allows a story to emerge naturally and seemingly without effort. Instead of wrestling with the plot, we invite our imagination to tell the story that lives inside, and we learn that our only real work is to get out of the way. In this way we can create exciting, dynamic stories of characters in conflict and transformation.
“Allen's class has given me what I've always been looking for--a thorough, step by step way to approach the seemingly sprawling art of novel writing. I’m eternally grateful.”
- Annalee Wooster, writer/filmmaker
The Dynamic Stories Workshop is an ongoing class for the writer seeking to explore the fundamentals of story structure through stream-of-consciousness writing exercises in a fun, safe and creative environment. Whether starting a new piece or undertaking a rewrite, students use the workshop as a tool to create amazing stories...and finish what they start.
Dynamic Stories is a must for emerging screenwriters and novelists/memoirists who are ready to move to the next level in their creative lives. You will learn practical techniques that allow you to free your imagination and write from the heart, while gaining a deep, intuitive relationship to structure.
