At SpaceXAI I train and evaluate model behavior across writing, personality, and conversation. I build independent story-development prototypes, and I consult with agencies, publishers, and creative organizations on adopting AI thoughtfully and effectively.

I spent fifteen years learning what makes great writing work, then two inside a frontier AI lab. The closer I get to these systems, the clearer I am about what only writers can do.

Story Development Prototypes

Breaking Story tested whether a model could be taught to understand story, structure, causality, and transformation rather than imitate its surface. Built solo, taken to beta with professional novelists, screenwriters, and TV writers, including Emmy-nominated writers and EPs.

Built on a custom multi-phase prompt system, Breaking Story combines a real-time story chat with a beat-by-beat generation engine. The chat prompt contains logic, progression rules, and formatting constraints to guide idea development. Then, in three structured stages, the system generates a full 15-beat outline based on narrative conventions, genre, and user intent, while using extracted and contextual data from the previous conversation.

Throughline tests whether a story philosophy can be encoded as a swappable layer, so an AI returns a particular house's development notes rather than generic model taste. Built solo as a thin single-screen prototype, it reads a premise, outline, or full script and delivers a set of development notes with the distinctive POV of the creator or organization. Swapping the philosophy creates visibly different notes, demonstrating that the philosophy and not the model drives the read.

Recent Work Highlights

  • SpaceXAI (Grok) – Train LLMs with a focus on personality and behavior, including narrative fluency, coherence, and character modeling

  • CSUN Residency – Designed and taught human-AI collaboration in theater, including a dramaturgy tool built for the department production

  • Literary Agencies – Advised on AI adoption in editorial workflows, and ran hands-on workshops for agents, editors, and writers

How I Think About AI and Writing

In the enterprise environment, AI makes your writing better right away. It doesn't make your thinking better, and the prose covers for it, looking finished when the thinking underneath isn't. Working in the gap between fluent output and sound judgment means knowing what a model can and can't do before you ask it anything, then verifying what it gave you before you trust it. Is it accurate? Does it say what you need it to say? That's a trainable skill and it’s something I specialize in.

In the creative environment, the danger is even greater. AI writing is fast and tempting to lean on, but creative work has no ground truth, so the verification has to live in the writer's own judgment. What the AI should be allowed to touch in a writer’s process is an unsettled question, and it’s the part of my work I care about most.

My writing background gives me something most AI developers lack, a deep understanding of what writers actually struggle with. Story structure isn't theory to me. It's the difference between a story that works and one that doesn't.
