Wild & Chance (Book 1)

Jason Bourne meets Homeward Bound in this fast-paced tale about an unusually intelligent dog with amnesia who must discover -- and then face -- her past with the help of a new friend.

A girl wakes up trapped on a sinking ship with no memory of who she is and nothing but her instinct to survive. She fights her way to freedom, only to discover two incredible facts: She is a dog, and she can understand human speech. She soon befriends a thirteen-year-old boy named Chance who gives her a name of her own—Wild.

But Wild and Chance find themselves running for their lives, pursued by relentless Animal Control officers. Joined by a mysterious hacker girl named Junebug, the unlikely trio fights for survival while trying to solve the mystery of Wild's extraordinary strength, super intelligence, and high-tech collar.

Equal parts heart-pounding action and heartfelt journey, Wild & Chance grabs the reader from page one and never lets go.

Early Reviews

School Library Review
This is an action-packed story about a boy and his dog; however, it is not the typical boy and his dog book! As it happens, this boy and dog can talk to one another. Wild, the dog, wakes up on a sinking yacht having completely lost her memory. She meets Chance, the boy, and is able to understand everything he says and he, in turn, understands her after she gives him a special earpiece to wear. The two go on an incredible journey in order to uncover the truth about Wild's exceptional intelligence which leads to their discovery that there are other dogs like her out there. She also wants to help Chance reconnect with his mother when she comes out of treatment so he doesn't have to go back to a group home.
This is a great book for dog lovers, those who love science-fiction or adventure, and anyone in need of a good story about interspecies friendship. Teachers and librarians could use this title to spark a love of reading in their students and to open discussions about foster homes and friendship. Readers will not want to put this story down until the very end!
