Guide on Usage: Unstuck AI jumpstarts your imagination. The AI prompts you to enter a simple story element, a preferred format (film, tv series, novel, short story) and a favorite genre. It then generates three story pitches complete with logline, character descriptions, story arc, and central conflict. If you’re unsure of what you want, the AI randomly selects for you, providing a menu of story options to get you started. The output is not meant to be “finished” stories, but jumping off points for the writer. If you’re not happy with the results, simply click “Regenerate” and get three new ideas. Ain’t AI just divine?
Cost: Always free. But you’ll need a ChatGPT Plus account to access. It’s a technical limitation of OpenAI, not my preference.
Inspiration: Sometimes a story idea comes with detail and conviction, and sometimes it comes as an unformed wisp—or not at all. Since GenAI is adept at inventing stories, I decided to put it to the test on the scenario of the “stuck” writer. Could I bring a fragment of an idea, for example a line of dialogue (“I said never again, Frankie.”), and let the AI do the heavy lifting? With three stories generated from each simple idea, the writer is thrust deep into story territory. Unstuck AI is an experiment in getting from nowhere to somewhere as quickly as possible.
